CSI – definitely worth further investigation!

With an upfront apology to any CSI fans – this is NOT about the TV program!

HP Software recently held its annual partner event called Business Perspectives.  As the name suggests, we aim to give our partners (reseller, distribution and alliances) an update on what’s going in the market place, and how HP can help them to address current trends, priorities etc.  Carla Arend from IDC gave the market update, based on some research IDC have recently concluded and it was very insightful.

Cloud, Security and Information (or big data as it is frequently being called) were all in the list of top IT priorities for 2012.  And unsurprisingly this aligns very clearly to what IDC called the “four forces of industry transformation”:  Cloud, Big Data, Mobility and Social Business.

Taking it further, Carla then shared the results of the software spending plans for 2012 – and guess which areas also featured?  Yes, that’s right:  security software, content management, storage software, etc…  Furthermore, this again aligns very well with the biggest business opportunities identified by those surveyed: with Cloud, Security, Innovation, Consolidation and Cost reduction all appearing in the top five.

Speaking with our partners at the event, it was great to see such alignment  and to see these trends, priorities and investment areas really resonating.  So if you’re not looking at these currently, I would definitely recommend further investigation of CSI!
