Hi Experts,

I am able to login into the sm after upgradation utility completes.

Can you share me the upgrade utility  and page number from which I may proceed further to purge the files as mentioned you in above mail.

Thanks in Advance

Re: upgrdation from sm 7.01 to sm 9.30

But before that you must test you all the functionality required.
=======
Step 6: Clean up upgrade objects
After you successfully apply the custom upgrade to your production system, you can run the purge
tool to remove temporary objects that were generated by the Upgrade Utility.
To run the purge tool:
1. Type *aapm.upgrade.purge in the Service Manager client command text box. Press Enter.
2. Click I'm done, and I want to remove the upgrade files completely.
3. Click OK.

Re: upgrdation from sm 7.01 to sm 9.30

Hey,

I would recommend you the new Service Manager 9.32. It is now available for download on SSO.

Here is the upgrade guide that you need:

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00491779/

HP always recommend sticking to the latest releases, as many improvements and known issues fixes are included.

Hope this helps.

Re: upgrdation from sm 7.01 to sm 9.30

After running the upgrade utility the next step is to completely test everything and take careful notes on what works, and what doesn't.

If your customizations and tailoring are minimal you can expect most things to work fine after an upgrade. The more customization you have done the more you can expect to have to manually fix some things after running the upgrade utility.

Typically an upgrade looks like this:

  • ON DEV
  • refresh dev from prod so you are starting from a good copy
  • freeze prod - no changes until the upgrade is done
  • run the upgrade utility on dev
  • TEST
  • you may find some thing have to be manually fixed up
  • take careful notes
  • repeat running the utility, applying known manual fixes then testing until everything works
  • Of course, you refresh dev between each run of the upgrade ITIL.
  • Run the clean ups as documented in the HP docs

On PROD

Once the upgrade runs smoothly on dev then you do prod.

  • Run the upgrade utility
  • apply all known manual fixes
  • test
  • run the clean ups as in the HP docs
