Unable to start Apache service in HP SM server

I am trying to install the web client in HP SM server. But I am facing issue in the enabling the apache services.

 

Error: Windows could not start the Apache tomcat 6 on local computer

 

HP SM 9.30 is installed.

It is web server (apache) issue. Check your log files and what is error message you are getting.

Often the reason is one of following:

  1. port (often 80 or 8080) is reserved by another program, for example IIS
  2. installation failure - I've seen Tomcat to refuse to start because I installed a new version of it without removing an old Tomcat installation AND restarting the server first.  Both are needed at least in MS servers.
  3. Configuration file (like server.xml) is malformed. It's easy for example try to comment some lines out but forgeting the end tag ---> check if you have changed recently any config files

Hi,

I would say, uninstall the existing Apache setup. And re-install the apache once again(Run as Administrator). After uninstalling , delete the complete Folder(Apache Software Foundation) and make sure while installing you are pointing to upgraded jre version.

As it was already mentioned, please check the installation and configuration (port) as this doesn't seem to be related to SM.
