Question

I have placed a Button on 'Open New Incident' form. With a click of that button, an alert should pop out saying 'Hello World'. Kindly guide me for implementing this.

Answer

There might be several ways to do this, but simplest way i think of is to use RAD Application-- mb.ok

Go to Form designer and open form you want to edit in desgin mode.(I am considering OOB form such as IM.close.incident).

Add button to this form. Put following parameters:

Button Id | 8008

Enable | Checked

Enable condition | true

Caption | Hello

Button ID is important and use same ID while creating DO.

Before adding DO first check the display screen associated with the form. You check display screen as FORMNAME(DISPLAYSCREEN). So in my case IM.close.incident(apm.edit.problem)

go to DO (Display option)  and search for screen id apm.edit.problem add new DO to this screen with following parameters:

Screen ID | Associated Screen name for your form  ((apm.edit.problem in my case)

Action  | do nothing

Unique Id | Leave blank generate automatically

GUI option | Button ID given in Form Designer for button(8008 in my case)

Text option | same as button id

Bank | 1

condition | true

default label | Hello

click button Add.

Then go to RAD tab present below DO option. Go to that tab add following :

RAD Application | mb.ok

Seperate Thread | true

Names | text

Values | Hello World

save the DO.

Then go to your form and click on button You will get pop up message with hello world as text.
