Stop Looking for the Silver Bullet: Start Thinking Like a Bad Guy

It's not every day you hear the head of a security products division tell an audience of 10,000 security professionals that the security industry is overinvested in products. Almost 86 percent of security budgets are spent trying to stop hackers at the infiltration stage, but repeated research and statistics (or even reading the news) show that's not solving the problem. So what's needed is a new approach that involves not looking for the 'silver bullet' solution that stops a single attack, but rather one that counters how hackers actually operate and utilizes security threat analysis to guide strategy.  Art Gilliland, the Senior Vice President of HP Software Enterprise Security Products, discuss that and more in his RSA 2014 Security Conference keynote address,  which you can watch below.
