HP TippingPoint DVLabs--Step into the time machine

time machine.jpgJump back in the time machine with me. Let’s set the year to 2010. What a great year: the iPad was released, Prince William and Kate Middleton got engaged, and the Chilean miners were freed from a collapsed mine. And when it came to network security, something spectacular happened in 2010, as well: HP Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) and HP TippingPoint were awarded their first Frost and Sullivan Leadership in Vulnerability Research Award. And we have won the award every year since.

Yes, you read that right—since 2010, HP ZDI has been the recognized as THE leader in vulnerability research. Armed with this guidance on early detection of vulnerabilities, HP TippingPoint Digital Vaccine Labs (DVLabs) incorporates this data into its filters to protect customers from zero-day vulnerabilities. Security intelligence and research and vulnerability research are two critical components to securing your network.  In the world of network security, knowledge is the key to staying a step (or two) ahead of the bad guys, and of course, your security is only as good as your last update.

Thanks to our Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), HP TippingPoint keeps the bad guys out. Combine that with HPSR’s vulnerability research leveraged by our DVLabs team and you have protection not just for today’s threats, but tomorrow’s threats.  Use the Security Management System to update your IPS and NGFW automatically and you can kick back and think about the good old days.

So let’s take a look back at those events from 2010 that we've all but forgotten and bring them up to present day…  The iPad is in almost every home. Kate Middleton and Prince William not only got married, but also had a baby. As for the rescued Chilean miners, their lives have continued on.

Old news is often easy to forget. But don’t forget who Frost and Sullivan have given the Leadership in Vulnerability Research Award to the past 4 years. That’s right, it’s HP.
