Things to do while in Barcelona

Warning of possible HOT weather! So bring your sunglasses, cap, and put on the sun lotion.

In this historical harbor city, there are just too many places to see and restaurants to choose from. So here’s the TOP 3 recommendations.

Sightseeing

  1. Las Ramblas and Plaça Catalunya – right in the center of the city and buzzing with tourists and locals alike with cafes and restaurants that can be found in one of the side streets. Plaça Catalunya also serves as a junction for 9 streets going thru the old gothic city (Ciutat Vella), the Mediterranean Sea, and the 19th century Eixample district. Plaça Catalunya
  2. Sagrada Familia – this most visited monument/basilica in Spain is 130+ years old and is the pinnacle design of Antoni. Gaudi, the world-famous Catalan architect, is known for being a Modernist blending various colours and techniques to his building designs. Plan to buy your ticket in advanced and online via Sagrada Família website or you will have to queue for at least 30 minutes to buy your ticket. Other famous Gaudi works are Casa BaltoLa Pedrera, and Park Guell

  3. Camp Nou – What’s Barcelona without FC Barcelona? Top off your itinerary with a stop to one of the city’s most visited museums—which doesn’t cover art or architecture, but football. At Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s home stadium, you can tour the interactive museum—and pick up Catalan phrases like “Visca el Barça” (“Go Barça!”), which will score you plenty of points with local fans. Make sure to plan for extra time to travel by metro train to the stadium, but definitely worth a visit!
  4. 3.	Camp Nou

Dining Out

  1. La Plata - Simple, traditional, good value tapas. Known for fried sardines, Catalan botifarra (sausage), tomato salad and onions and nice crusty bread. Good for really light tapas meal to kick off your tapas hop around town.  La Plata traditional tapas bar
  2. Ciudad Condal – must try their fresh seafood tapas (as simple as grilled and sprinkled with rock salt) or their daily specials like tapas made with duck liver or peppers stuffed with fish and cheese. You’ll find friendly and helpful service from this really popular place. Expect to wait for your table if you arrive after 8:30pm. No table reservations, unfortunately.Ciudad Condal
  3. Comerc 24  - for something more upmarket, check out this tapas bar helmed by chef Carles Abellan, who excels at experimental Catalan cuisine, with dishes like grilled cod topped with an airy pine nut foam that dissolves on the tongue. This Michelin-starred restaurant boasts of creative and quality food.Comerc 24
