HP Discover is a must-attend event for anyone involved in IT. From CEOs to ExpertOne certified professionals, there’s something for everyone. From the keynote speakers to the Discover Zone, technical break-out sessions, hands-on labs, exams, pre-event training, and , late night dinners, it’s a fast paced event with something for everyone.

To give you an idea, here’s a great video from last year, shot as HP was setting up for the event.

For the ExpertOne certified professional or people with an interest in a career in IT, we’ve got even more for you this year in Las Vegas. Here’s my top 7 list of reasons why you can’t afford to miss HP Discover 2013.

Pre-Event Training

We have certification training classes covering Cloud, Converged Infrastructure, HP Networking, HP ProLiant Servers, and HP Storage. Over 100+ people converge on Las Vegas the weekend before HP Discover to sit in training rooms, stare at computer screens, avoiding sunlight for up to 10 hours a day. Pre-event training is so popular; classes are fully booked months before the event with mile long waiting list of people hoping someone misses their flight to Las Vegas..

Pearson Onsite Testing

Every year, hundreds of workstations are setup in anticipation of 800+ people filing through the Pearson test center. If you have an ExpertOne Learner ID, you can register for up to two free exams and purchase three additional exams at half price. Test center exams are normally $200. Between the pre-event training and Pearson onsite testing, you can combine a fantastic conference with training and testing, leaving Las Vegas with a new (or upgraded) certification. The saying “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas” doesn’t apply here.

Access to Experts

HP Discover is a one-stop shop to ask questions from subject matter experts about the latest technology (hardware or software). They fill the Expo floor, eager to answer your questions. An added bonus is access to ExpertOne experts in the ExpertOne lounge. I’ve watched (in awe) as Master ASEs carefully walk people through solutions to their It challenges or problems. Where else can you find so many experts all in the same place?

Hands-on Labs

HP brings tons of equipment to HP Discover, along with product and solution engineers. If you’ve ever wanted to know the people behind enterprise and consumer products and solutions, HP Discover is one of the few events with the opportunity to access the experts. Last year, Chris Wahl used this opportunity to talk to experts, see the equipment, and, using this knowledge, fill in his knowledge gaps and achieve an ExpertOne certification.

ExpertOne Lounge

You will find hundreds of subject matter experts in the ExpertOne lounge. The lounge is a common destination at HP Discover for certified professionals and anyone with an interest in joining the ExpertOne community. If you aren’t a member of the ExpertOne community, drop by the ExpertOne lounge and we’ll sign you up as you walk through the door. It’s as fast as scanning your name badge at the door to the lounge. Special user group meetings, forums, discussions, contests, and conversation fill the room. If you visited the lounge last year, you can expect the same, only more events and surprises. I know from personal experience, this is an opportunity I will not miss!

Peer (community) Networking

The ExpertOne lounge is the place to be to network with industry peers. Along with your fellow certified professionals, you will find ExpertOne regional and world-wide managers who are there specifically to talk to you and get your feedback on the program, certifications and specific needs. Along with ExpertOne, the lounge will also have Connect and Vivit community representatives, bringing together a large gathering of industry peers to help you connect and build long lasting relationships.

Opportunities to connect don’t stop at the lounge. There are many activities (both planned and unplanned) outside of the lounge. This includes but isn’t limited to evening activities, casual conversation during meals, and chatting before sessions. I’ve always walked away from HP Discover, carefully reviewing the stacks of business cards with notes written on the back of each card.

Master ASE Luncheon

Back by popular demand, ExpertOne hosts a special luncheon for our Master ASE community. Over 300 Master ASEs converge on Las Vegas for HP Discover and the luncheon is a highlight of the week. Master ASEs have many surprises waiting for them in Las Vegas! It pays to achieve the highest level of certification from Hewlett Packard.

I hope to see you in Las Vegas! (June 11-13)
