iOS driver for lasrjet printer

[ Edited ]
I just bought an iPad2 and I'm trying to find a print driver for my Color lasrjet 3600n. Does hp have a driver compatable with laserjets? It does not look like the hp Home&biz ePrint or PrinterControl are comparable.

Re: iOS driver for lasrjet printer

The LaserJet 3600 printer is a 'host-based' printer.

As such, it doesn't understand any of the traditional Page Description Languages (PDLs) like PCL5, PCL6 or PostScript.

It uses a proprietary language (known, I think, as JetReady).

Most of the work of rendering is done on the host workstation, which rasterises each 'page' into one or more images, then compresses and encapsulates these images.

The printer firmware then just unencapsulates and uncompresses these images, and prints the resultant dots.

I've no idea whether or not iOS supports host-based printers.
