Brocade 4/12 Switch Password does not match

We installed a renewed Brocade 4/12 Switch in our c3000 Blade. The default login (admin/password) does not match.
The default IP-Adress is 10.0.10.91 and not as described in the manual 10.77.77.77. Is there a way to reset the switch for default values???

I've tried it. The switch reboots but the config is the same as before.

I've still no access. Is there no way to restore the default settings?

Re: Brocade 4/12 Switch Password does not match

Frank, i had such problem and found two ways
1) Send the switch to the service center
2) Hack it. :).

Open the switch and find the CF-flash there. Carefully unplug it from the switch's mainboard. Find somewhere computer with linux installed and with cf-reader. Plug the CF to the cf-reader, do full back-up of the CF (dd is good and simple idea), mount CF filesystem, find there /etc/passwd, edit it by hands (vi, joe, etc), umount filesystem, plug the CF to switch back and try to login.
But remember - it's a totally unsupported hack, and if anyone from hp asks you, never tell him that you did it ;). Good luck.

Re: Brocade 4/12 Switch Password does not match

Thanks for this hack

The easiest way is to copy the /etc/passwd.default to the /etc/passwd file and the /etc/shadow.default to /etc/shadow
