Remote syslog for Onboard Administrator

Edvard had a customer question:

An important customer is having some issue regarding the remote syslog functionality on the Onboard Administrator. They have specified a port that they want to send the traffic over from the OA GUI but it seems like OA doesn’t want to accept this settings since it can’t ping the syslog server. The Customer is very aware about security refusing to open up for ping and wonder if they can get around this or if the OA have to be able to ping the syslog server?

First customer would have to login to the active OA and ensure enable remote system logging is enabled and default port is 514  . Customer could also configure a different port which supports UDP protocol . The remote syslog port must also be opened in the firewall .

Please look at the OA user guide : Page 124
