Information Governance: HP Consolidated Archive 8.0 Released

I’m happy to announce that the latest version of HP Autonomy’s information archiving offering has just been released.  HP Consolidated Archive (HPCA), a core component of our Information Governance portfolio of solutions, helps organizations manage and control data across multiple data channels and sources to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, increase IT efficiency, and support legal preparedness.

With this new release we have focused on optimizing overall archiving performance and efficiency, while offering a significantly enhanced end user experience.  Together with expanded functionality customers can quickly deploy their archiving solution, find their data faster, reduce the data footprint, and confidently ensure compliance and litigation readiness across all of their information.

HPCA 8.0, which leverages HP Autonomy's information processing engine, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), further streamlines and supports the ability for organizations to manage and derive intelligence from their data.  Specific enhancements include:

  • Improved functionality, user experience, and performance – By leveraging the latest IDOL technology, HPCA will decrease CPU usage, enable faster searching across all data, support more efficient data synchronization, and reduce the data footprint.  These improvements significantly improve IT efficiency, productivity, and storage optimization.
  • Enhanced eDiscovery and investigations – HPCA’s search interface has been streamlined to promote a more-transparent user experience, and now allows eDiscovery search results to be filtered by content type.  It also enables users to only export new (delta) documents since the last search or during an ongoing search.  These enhancements will help organizations achieve time and cost savings across their entire eDiscovery process including the typically expensive review phase.
  • Extended data type support – Searching and rendering of SharePoint data can now be performed within eDiscovery interface, which now offer dynamic views of the data for enhanced eDiscovery.  There is improved accessibility to Exchange public folders and Exchange personal archives to enable end user searching in both the mail and eDiscovery interfaces.  End users also have the option to simultaneously restore multiple messages to their inbox and source folder.  Together with an improved user experience, there is greater control of the data which further supports the ability to intelligently manage data across the enterprise.
  • A completely new deployment process – This new process will simplify installation, configuration, patching, and future upgrades.  Admins are guided through an intuitive configuration that supports even the most-complex environments.  The configuration will allow fine tuning of SQL scripts and will proactively flag any errors to be addressed prior to going into production.  This simplified deployment allows HPCA 8.0 to be pre-installed on HP hardware prior to shipment, and enables new automated patching and upgrade processes.  Multiple HPCA environments can now be consolidated into a single environment to support the reduction of hardware.  With this new deployment process HPCA 8.0 takes a huge step in helping companies reduce IT resources and increase IT efficiency.

HP’s archiving solutions are relied upon and proven by the largest global companies across many verticals, and we are commitment to innovation will ensure that we can meet their information, compliance, legal, and storage challenges of today and tomorrow.
