Information Governance: HP Application Information Optimizer Product

A new version of HP Application Information Optimizer (HP AIO) has just been launched!

HP AIO 7.1 introduces a cloud-based approach to managing legacy structured data and offers additional connectivity to market-leading databases (e.g., IBM DB2), providing even greater flexibility in how organizations manage and dispose their data. Read the press release here.

The market reaction to our launch has been very positive, and several articles and blogs have already been written in response.  Some quotes from this coverage that best summarize the market reaction to the news include:

  • “In recent months, HP-Autonomy has been pushing hard in the information governance space. The push continues today with the release of an upgrade to their Application Information Optimizer software.” (CMSWire)
  • HP Application Information Optimizer (AIO) 7.1 introduces a cloud-based approach to managing legacy structured data, additional connectivity to databases, and greater leverage of Autonomy’s information processing engine, the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL). (IT Trends & Analysis)
  • “AIO is designed to allow the graceful movement to a cloud solution for providers that may have been reluctant to this due to fears of losing control of the data and risking security of sensitive information.” (Storage
  • “AIO can reduce the storage footprint, minimize backup costs, and retire old databases and applications while reducing storage costs by up to 48% and backup time by up to 50%.” (Storage
  • “Hewlett-Packard today upgraded its Application Information Optimizer (AIO) archiving application, adding support for the cloud and integration with the HP Intelligent Data Operation Layer (IDOL) search engine.” (

AIO complements our overall Information Governance strategy – back in June we announced the HP Legacy Data Cleanup solution, which allows organizations to govern and defensibly dispose of unnecessary unstructured data. Together with AIO, we offer a complete solution for governing all your legacy data, from application and database data to human-generated information.
