HP Discover 2013: Numbers Matter

Last week, at Discover, HP Autonomy announced the newest version of its flagship backup and recovery offering, HP Data Protector 8. This version “ups the ante” – it focuses entirely on addressing the challenges of not just Big Data but “Distributed Big Data.” Namely the enormous amounts of information that resides in the data center, at the edge, and all points in between. The numbers are bigger than any casino jackpot. This version can manage up to a trillion files -- yes that is trillion with a capital “T” -- and over 5,000 clients from a single instance.

But the real beauty of this new version is its ability to seamlessly automate the backup, deduplication and recovery of remote site data from a single pane of glass. No other company can do this with the simplicity and automation the HP Data Protector 8 can deliver. A global logistics company is deploying HP Data Protector 8 across +1,000 sites and is able to reliably guarantee a 4 hour recovery SLA, regardless of location in the event of server failure – no more tapes, no more inefficient storage, and no more headaches!

I talk about this news in this video clip.
