Data Protection: HP Discover 2013 takes over Barcelona

Tuesday, December 10th marks the start of HP Discover 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.  It seems like just yesterday, that many of us were walking the same streets for VMWorld EMEA. As it is, the event is set to kick off in just 1 day and I have the fortune to attend as part of the “Special Interest Groups” and the “Demo Team” in the HP Software Pavilion.

The “Special Interest Groups” are customer councils that afford HP the opportunity to speak candidly with a selection of our existing customers.  The focus of the conversation is around what works, what doesn’t and what can be done better.  It is a knowledge sharing interaction where HP can provide insight into product roadmaps and discuss product features and the viability of that feature with how the customer would use it.  I have to say, out of all the events I have participated in during these events, this kind of interaction has to be my favorite.  When you get a chance to sit in a room with customers that use your company’s software and get to hear the good and the bad, then collectively discuss solutions and use cases, everyone wins.

In Hall #4, the HP Software team will be demonstrating 12 different areas of its portfolio.  As for me, I’ll be manning a booth with Ulrich (Uli) Wallscheid demonstrating, whiteboarding and discussing HP’s Data Protection software.  If that isn’t exciting enough, the HP Software team has arranged two very exciting items to entice you: an Espresso Bar and a Guru Lounge.  You can read the details here: HP Discover, Barcelona 2013|VMMaverick.

Throughout the event, I’ll do my best to provide a play-by-play (depending on booth duty) and will certainly provide a wrap up.  Hope to see you at the event.
