Data Protection: Find Out Why It’s Time to Rethink Data Protection [Infographic]

In my last blog post, I wrote about the new release of HP Data Protector software and how it ties to our Adaptive Backup and Recovery initiative. The concept of Adaptive Backup and Recovery is simple: Keeping track of changes within a datacenter is almost impractical in today’s fast-moving world. The three Vs—volume, velocity, and variety—of data growth combined with the emergence of new virtual, remote and cloud environments, demand an intelligent approach to data protection.

As most of us know, backup policies are typically deployed to satisfy a specific need and are then rarely revisited, especially in today’s rapidly changing IT environments. Old legacy architectures designed decades ago utilizing a “set-it-and-forget-it” approach can’t solve the needs of today’s dynamic data centers. The ability to learn and adapt to change is critical to the survival and competitiveness of any organization.

Here’s what’s important…

If the importance of information changes over time, then your backup policy must change along with it. To reduce risk to service level objectives and gain higher backup resource utilization, backup and recovery applications need to intelligently adapt backup policies when data and applications change within the environment.

But what better way to tell this story than with an infographic? Check out this cool new Adaptive Backup Infographic that visually explains how rapidly things are changing within the data center and the need for a new approach that meets the backup and recovery demands of an always-on and always-available modern data center.
