Data Protection: A heart-warming winter story

HP-dp-blog.jpgIt’s been such a dreary winter, and yet another catastrophic storm is at our doorstep, even with the memory of “Polar Vortex” still fresh in our minds.  When I reluctantly got out of bed before sunrise for an early meeting this morning, I received a heart-warming email from a colleague in Switzerland.  The overwhelming warm-and-fuzzy feeling I got took the biting cold right out of me and I couldn’t wait to start the day!

So, what did the email say?

We just received another vote of confidence from a long time customer.  In spite of all the choices out there, they chose HP Connected Backup as their Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) /Cloud-based PC backup solution.

HP has been a long-time strategic infrastructure supplier for Syngenta.  This project is one cornerstone out of a set of initiatives that aims to fully connect Syngenta’s remote branches and small sites to the cloud, and is one component of the comprehensive, end-to-end IT solutions available from HP.

What is HP Connected Backup?

HP Connected Backup provides the most enterprise-proven, scalable, and litigation-ready mobile user data protection solution on the market today, protecting more than 4 million enterprise users worldwide. It’s delivered the way customers want to buy it, whether that is on premise, in the cloud, or in hybrid configurations.

The Connected Backup solution that HP has started implementing will allow Syngenta to have one centrally managed PC Backup system, and will allow users to more easily locate data in case of a lawsuit, to put legally relevant data under legal hold and make it discoverable in a timely manner.  With policy-driven, automated backups, data is always protected, secure, and available for recovery without the need for user intervention. This new PC Backup service aims to significantly improve Syngeta’s end user experience and reduce help desk calls generated by PC Backup.

Now, let’s look at the big picture.

What do CIOs, CTOs, and other IT professionals around the world need? They need 21st century IT architecture that is capable of handling today’s daunting demands, and meeting the specific requirements of their unique business. Only HP has the ability to deliver across that full spectrum. Only HP can provide solutions from the device to the data center—from infrastructure to software and services—with solutions that span security, cloud, mobility, and big data.

Is HP coming back?

You bet!  As our CEO Meg Whitman said, “The entire company is focused on reconnecting to our customers and to our partners. Nothing is more important for the future of HP.  Our focus is on delivering great experiences to our customers with every single interaction, whether that be in delivery, a product, or services.”

And we are making our goal a reality, one customer at a time.
