Analytics for Human Information: Struggling with Social Media ROI?

We recently wrapped up an American Marketing Association webcast entitled “Capitalizing on the Rich Information from Social Networking Sites”.  This event raised some interesting points regarding social media analytics.

One of the real-time polls of the attending audience showed that over one third considered the demonstration of social ROI as their biggest challenge, yet more than a quarter were not doing any social analytics at all.

Customers are interacting with their vendors via a dizzying variety of channels.  The reach and richness of social media bring unprecedented opportunities. What are your significant influencers saying about your latest product launch over Twitter?  Are your competitors posting offers via Facebook, putting a damper on your promotional campaigns? How can you take the most advantage of a third-party YouTube video giving your new offering rave reviews?   Image what you can do with a command center providing a 360-analytical view based upon real-time data feeds from all your social channels.

If you, like the webcast audience, are concerned about showing a return on your social investment, it makes sense that some of that investment should be in a tool that lets you harness the power of social media and gives you valuable analytics to help you measure response.

Once you have a solid multichannel analytics approach to super-charge your pipeline contribution, the ROI demonstration may not be that tough after all.
