Thanks

A possible solution would be to create a custom field for the defect like "closed reason" and create a list of values for it

A user story can also be a duplicate.  You should be able to indicate that a user story is a duplicate of another user story - so not only is the staus indicated as duplicate but there is a reference to the duplicate story.  This is standard in tools such as RallyDev.

Please add this as an enhancement request.

Can you elaborate on the scenario for which you would like to keep two user stories that are duplicate?

Re: Please add "Duplicate" defect status in HP Agile Manager

There are several situations in which that we would want to keep two user stories that are duplicates.  The primary one is that two different users may enter a similar or duplicate user story.  While planning for the sprint, you recognize that one is a duplicate - but you have different users following different stories.  By indicating that one is a duplicate, you retain both stories, and when a user navigates to a user story, he may see that it is a duplicate of another.  If you simply delete it, it is frustrating to the user and he may enter the story again.    Another situation is that during planning and discussing stories, you may realize that one, while it is worded differently, is actually a duplicate of another.   You dont want to delete either, but also want to indicate that one is a duplicate of another.  There may also be additional information or attachments to duplicate stories.
