RP7420 Changing Terminal Type in GSP

Is it possible to change the terminal type from HP to vt100 in the GSP? I've got a few systems that it no longer appears to be possible to do this. I've tried using the CA command but it does not give terminal type as an option.

It's a bit of an issue as Ignite garbles the screen and I'm forced to use the remote Ignite interface but this won't always be an option as we could be using tape.

Thanks.

Re: RP7420 Changing Terminal Type in GSP

You cant change this from the MP.  However, I think its already in VT100 compatible mode.  Are you accessing locally via serial/RS232 or via MP LAN?  With LAN you can control the terminal type displayed from PuTTy.

Re: RP7420 Changing Terminal Type in GSP

Bob I've tried both methods and get the same result. What's more the serial console is going through a VT100 terminal server.

Why HP removed the facility to change the MP/GSP terminal type is beyond me especially when without the ability to do that it has such dire consequences for Ignite.

The console firmware terminal type is currently set to "hp". If you
are using any other type of terminal you will see "garbage" on the
         screen following this message.
If this is the case, you will need to either change the terminal type
set in the firmware via GSP (if your GSP firmware version supports
this feature), or change your terminal emulation to match the
firmware. In either case you will need to restart if your terminal and
the firmware terminal type do not match.
Press the 'b' key if you want to reboot now.

Re: RP7420 Changing Terminal Type in GSP

I may have found the solution and it looks like using "emterm" as terminal type may work. I'll give it a go later and if it works will close this off.

Re: RP7420 Changing Terminal Type in GSP

How did you configured "emterm" under PuTTy?  Can you please share the steps. I am facing the same problem.

Thnanks
