A new style of IT is emerging. Cloud computing is fundamentally changing the way people live and work. And just like client/server did, the changes will significantly impact Information technology – people, processes and technology.
Enterprises have been steadily embracing private and managed cloud environments and are increasingly finding use cases for the public cloud. We are past the point of the cloud being limited to shadow IT and startups.

Last week, more than 9,000 people gathered in Frankfurt for HP Discover 2012 to learn the latest about industry trends and how they can leverage HP solutions to drive their business objectives. Cloud computing is one of the most important trends. It’s enabling organizations to transform their business, using a mix of private, public, and managed clouds, alongside traditional IT. For those who couldn’t join us in Frankfurt, HP’s Frances Guida shares her perspective on the key takeaways Discover attendees had about cloud in this short video.

I read an interesting article just after HP Discover in Las Vegas titled Turn out the lights HP Discover is over, written by a friend and HP colleague of mine called Calvin Zito. If you follow Calvin, you will find he is a very pervasive writer that lives and breathes anything storage. His article came up for discussion yesterday during a meeting, which triggered a reminder to me that even though HP Discover was over, from the Cloud perspective, we left the lights on for you.

It’s hard to believe that a week has already gone by and the big HP Discover event in Vienna is now history. As what typically happens when you attend these events in person, is that it is very hard to know if we are actually providing good social media coverage or not. So, if I was not able to attend and were just following the event from another location, were we providing adequate coverage?
If you are getting a chance to go to HP Discover, here’s an interesting session to look out for. It's about a company called FICO that successfully implemented a 90 day transition into the Cloud using HP CloudSystem Matrix.
If you are going to HP Discover this year and are interested in new Cloud develops, there will be a lot of interesting things in store for you. On the exhibit floor you will find 9 specific Cloud demos in the Cloud Zone. These demos are made up of where to start your journey to the cloud with CloudStart, (a fully comprehensive, fixed rate, 30 day program to Cloud.)
