You get what you pay for: Cloud pricing races to the bottom

It’s hard not to notice the continual pricing war in the public cloud market with Amazon, Google, and Microsoft dropping prices regularly to grab attention and bid for market share. As consumers we are conditioned to be interested in lower prices; however lower prices do not always translate into better service or solutions.

“Price is what you pay. Value is what you get” – Warren Buffett

When looking at the cloud market, HP sees enterprises that are not distracted by the lowest price; instead we see that enterprises are seeking the best value, they have complex situations, they have more questions than answers, they know things will be changing, and they are looking for more than the lowest price.  Value is the best set of services for the best price based on the customers need.  We represent enterprise value:

  • An enterprise-grade service – Built on HP’s world class hardware and software, with free live support available 24x7x365 days a year
  • Industry leading SLA 99.95% – Only HP begins compensating customers should availability drop below 30 minutes per month
  • A multitude of professional services - To advise, transform or manage the enterprise cloud
  • Hybrid cloud delivery across from traditional IT, private, public and managed cloud environments
  • Secure and highly available – With the use of HP’s industry leading security software including; Fortify, ArcSight, TippingPoint, WebInspect, etc., and with geographically diverse data centers, we offer multiple physically separated availability zones with redundant power and data connectivity systems in each.
  • Qualified, enterprise proven partner—We offer a unique cloud solution meeting your business needs
  • Training and services—This makes sure all business stakeholders are aligned in cloud journey

As you can see, media outlets and public cloud providers are heavily focused on the clouds of the past and market segments that  are simply looking for low-cost resources. HP is focused on delivering the next generation of cloud solutions for our global enterprise customers who are looking to the long term. Enterprises want to know how cloud computing can transform their business operations for both IT and customers. Saving a dime is not what’s important to these customers.
