ODCA 2014 Solution Summit - Increase what you know about your customer needs

Bay.jpgI had a great experience at the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) Solution Summit this week by the bay in Monterey, Ca.  The ODCA announced their upcoming Forecast 2014 sponsors.   HP Cloud is a   Platinum sponsor and will be co-hosting a hackathon at the event with   Intel.   Having the opportunity to be HP Cloud’s liaison to ODCA, I find the professional relationship an open door to innovation for global data centers and cloud computing.

The Solution Summit held on March 19, 2014, was hosted by the   ODCA Board. It offered me and my team leaders an opportunity to sit down with customers and listen to what their business challenges are and share what options HP Cloud has to offer across the portfolio. One of the most memorable parts of the event was listening to BMW VP of Infrastructure and ODCA Chairman and Secretary, Mario Mueller discuss his over 3M car connections to BMW data centers.  The ODCA provides BMW direct influence into the ODCA usage models.  These member-defined requirements document the most pressing challenges and needed solutions for cloud deployment in four categories: Secure Federation, Automation, Common Management & Policy, and Transparency. They will help shape Alliance members' planning and purchasing, and highlight requests for providers to deliver solutions based on the requirements. Understanding these models can help you understand what your enterprise end users are looking for.

In a conversation with Mario he shared his enthusiasm for the partnership ODCA provides his business.  Correy Voo, CTO at UBS and ODCA President also shared how pleased he is with the growing eco-system within the ODCA and the opportunity to engage colleagues and customers as trusted advisors across the community.

Stay tuned, as we progress towards the Forecast event on September 22-24, 2014 in San Francisco. If you are interested in participating, you can register here.
