New HP Cloud Reference Architecture for Mission Critical CloudSystem

To demonstrate reliable private cloud implementations for mission critical computing, HP and Intel jointly announced a new HP Cloud Reference Architecture, featuring new Integrity blades I2 servers with Intel® Itanium® 9300 Series. Acting as the HP EMEA Cloud Center of Excellence, the HP Intel CME Solution Center from Grenoble France has implemented a new Cloud Infrastructure for mission-critical environments.

HP’s current functional cloud computing architecture uses software and application programming interfaces running on standard servers with Intel® Xeon® processors. To expand the customer Cloud experience for a more secure and reliable CloudSystem, the Center of Excellence kicked off a new project to include and support  HP Integrity servers for existing cloud infrastructure mix and to propagate specific Mission Critical unique features of the Itanium® processor family across the Matrix Operating Environment’s software layers. The major targets for mission critical CloudSystem are Private Cloud implementations for SaaS offering with the highly secure HP virtualization hypervisor / HP Virtual Server Environment suite and/or SaaS offering with the business continuity and security functionalities provided by HP-UX 11i.

The benefits obtained by enriching the cloud infrastructure with support for mission-critical applications address:

  • Customers’ primary concerns of cloud computing which are availability, privacy, and security. The HP-UX operating system running on HP Integrity server blades i2 delivers built-in resilience, mission critical virtualization and scalability necessary for mission-critical applications
  • HP Integrity servers and HP-UX smooth transition path to the cloud for existing mission-critical infrastructure and business applications, thereby leveraging existing investments and offering a compelling new TCO
  • Access to a new generation of Cloud Maps with HP-UX to provision automatically complete 3-tier Applications infrastructure on demand which are useful for SaaS offering quick deployment
  • Intel Itanium processors that are perfectly adapted to the intensive calculations, mission critical virtualization, database/cluster support needs, and complex n-tier architectures of mission-critical applications.

The EMEA HP Cloud Center of Excellence play a key role in demonstrating HP/Intel Cloud technology and offer personalized consultation, integration, and support service for customers planning a transition to cloud computing. Finally, this Cloud Solution Center also offers a range of practical programs, including innovation workshops, dedicated clouds seminars and proofs-of-concept:

  • This new HP Cloud Reference Architecture will be available for customer demonstrations and or will be experienced either online or at our Center facility within a couple of weeks.
