If cloud can transform an 80-year-old media company, imagine what it can do for your business

The holiday season means one thing for me: avoid the crazy lines at retail stores and escape to the movie theater. On my list this season are Walking with Dinosaurs and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The movies' distributor, 20th Century Fox, has been building buzz for these blockbusters since the summer, by creating identities on various social media sites for each movie and releasing prescreen content to the press and customers.

It’s incredibly impressive that 20th Century Fox, a nearly 80-year-old media company, continues to transform itself to meet the changing ways in which audiences want to consume entertainment. Like 20th Century Fox, transforming IT to respond to the needs of his customers is a major priority of many organizations. Many rely on HP Cloud to build and integrate different cloud delivery models—private, managed, public and hybrid—onto a common foundation. This enables organizations to provide business and IT services in the most effective and efficient way--by selecting the most appropriate delivery method for the individual workload.

Cloud can help transform your business with greater speed, agility, and efficiencies

In a blog post for HP Next, Herbert writes: “Because we support several entities across 90 countries, we need to collaborate and coordinate decision-making on a moment-to-moment basis.  Now we will be able to manage and support our customer requirements for delivery marketing, promotional and production content, managing several million media files across our worldwide ecosystem.”

Herbert adds: “We must deliver solutions to support our content management needs at the pace our business is running.  The Converged Cloud approach allows us the scalability and flexibility our business requires to transport and automatically deliver content to our customer’s digital ecosystems.”

Customers are making hybrid real today

Like 20th Century Fox, many enterprise organizations are seeing the transformative power of a hybrid delivery model and putting it to real world implementation today. They're using hybrid delivery to give them the flexibility and scalability to meet ever-changing market demands, quickly and cost-effectively. And, as 20th Century Fox attests, the benefits are real.

Herbert explains: “HP’s Converged Infrastructure with HP CloudSystem has been a winning combination.  We plan to cut compute and storage provisioning times from 5 weeks to 15 minutes, reduce the cost and footprint of our data centers by 70 percent, drive real-time consumption and capacity monitoring, as well as provide a transparent and competitive cost structure that will be rate-card driven. We continue to build upon our world-class digital media supply chain by transforming into a cloud-enabled enterprise, to deliver the scalability and agility our business partners demand.”

More organizations are moving to hybrid delivery. According to Gartner, “Nearly half of large enterprises will have hybrid cloud deployments by the end of 2017.”[1]
