Case Study: CADFEM Engineering Simulation Cloud powered by HP Helion

CADFEM (German/English), a leading provider of CAE simulation software, consulting, and support for the world’s leading CAE provider ANSYS in central Europe. In addition, CADFEM is a system vendor and engineering services provider with CADFEM Engineering Simulation Cloud (German).

Engineering customers faced  limitations in performance capability of their local hardware for processing their local data using simulation software licenses delivered via SaaS model. CADFEM needed to enable scalability and speed for a complete simulation solution to provide greater flexibility and performance to customers.

Using the HP Helion Self-Service HPC Solution CADFEM created a secure, cloud-based offering with multi-device access including web portals and mobile user interfaces for batch submission of simulation workloads running on highly scalable HPC infrastructure within the cloud. Their new solution, CADFEM Engineering Simulation Cloud greatly expands the HPC capability for customers while freeing them from limitations based on local hardware.

“CADFEM’s long-term relationship with HP has enabled us to both expand our offerings to our customers and add value to our solutions.” – Gerhard Zelder, Manager IT-Solutions, CADFEM

Based on CADFEM’s long relationship with HP from workstations, cluster technology, private cloud, and HP ProLiant it was a natural to engage HP and evaluate other components from HP’s Helion solution portfolio to help advance their solution like HP Cloud Service Automation for self-service automation.
