Announcing HP CloudSystem Matrix 7.1

HP, my dedicated co-workers, and I are proud to announce HP CloudSystem Matrix and HP CloudSystem Matrix Software version 7.1 today. This release has a combination of new features as well as improvements to existing functionality. A lot of this work is based on ideas and feedback from our customers - so thank you for providing your input!

Some of the new features include:

  • Bursting to a broader set of partners now including HP Cloud Services and Amazon EC2.

  • Improved service recovery with support for recovering full services rather than servers, scaling to 2500 servers, and asynchronous 3Par DR support.

  • Increased flexibility to add data disks to VM Templates and supporting "remove server" operations.
  • Additional scaling to 12,000 virtual machines when Matrix OE is in a federated environment to provide further growth room for existing customers.

We also made it easier to maintain with these functionalities:

  • Building a cloud in a day with HP CloudSystem Matrix software supporting a virtual machine environment - and a trial version to test out if you are interested.
  • Addressing service sprawl with additional template flexibility including changing CPU, memory size and network attributions. It also includes adding and configuring load balancers at service creation time, as well as changing VM CPU and memory size while the service is running.
  • Improved built-in chargeback and analytics capabilities that can be used from within CloudSystem Matrix or integrated with CloudCruiser for advanced reporting capabilities across hybrid cloud and traditional IT environments.

You can also expect a series of blog posts to get a little deeper on some of these topics over the next few weeks.

Do you use HP CloudSystem Matrix today? If so, what functionality do you think will especially benefit your organization?
