There’s no question that IT and business are interdependent.  IT often is the driving force behind company success.   It’s just that it’s not always easy to explain or show the value that IT brings, especially to business partners. Why?  Based on studies by HP and independent analysts, as much as 70 percent of the IT budget and 50 percent of the IT people resources are part of an organization managed by a VP of  Operations or similar title.   With the HP IT Performance Suite, VP of Operations Edition our goal is to provide the VP of Operations the tools to define, measure and show value based on key performance indicators.

The HP IT Performance Suite was introduced to provide a means to put a real-time view into the metrics that matter for an IT department.   The pre-defined KPIs are meant to allow any organization to define what is important to them and to map out how their IT investments support their near-term and long-term goals.   And most importantly, the solution is pre-integrated with other existing HP solutions and open so that it can interface with other common industry solutions.  This open solution approach helps break down the silos that can be built up not just between technology and tools but also organizations.

While many IT organizations have used best practices and tools to perform similar types of operational, financial and efficiency analysis, until now there was no single pane of glass that brought it all together across the multiple layers of IT.   What we found in speaking with customers is that this type of manual work was complex and often it was not obvious where to start.   This was the inspiration for the HP IT Performance Suite, and now with the new updates we have added to the VP of Operations Edition, to help deal with the specific issues often faced by this role in an organization.

Have questions, get answers

As a VP of IT Operations or equivalent position we understand the questions that keep you up at night  If the questions below resonate with you, then know that the HP IT Performance Suite, VP of Ops Edition was created to help you you get the answers—and the insight—you need:

  • ·         How well are we doing asset deployment?
  • ·         How well is IT serving the business?
  • ·         What is my budget going to be next year?
  • ·         Should we invest more in automation? In Cloud?

If your organization is like many others, these questions can be hard to answer.  The reason:  it is not a simple task to pull together quantitative data to either support or refute a point of view.   These are exactly the type of questions that the ITPS, VP of Operations Edition was designed to e in real-time from a single dashboard.

For example, what if your goal is to understand the average cost of a business service or percent of software licenses in use, or percent of met service level agreements?   In each of these cases the goal can only be met if a KPI can be created and then used to measure the metric or data present in an IT system or that can be derived from an IT system.  The HP IT Performance Suite solution includes dozens of pre-defined KPIs including the ones mentioned above to accelerate the measurement of your existing environment so that you can begin to understand what is important to you and how you should be measuring it.  Have questions? It's a fact that IT and business are interdependent. IT gives a firm foundation for success of any business. The VP provision of Operations the tools to define, measurement and the shown value based on key performance, are good ideas to smile about. On top of that, the innovation of HP IT Performance Suite and the new updates already added to the VP of Operations Edition, shows a great step taken in the IT industry.

Thanks Mr. Shane Pearson for this brilliant post.
