Discover session on the impact IT Ops can have on the business

Next week I’ll be at HP Discover in Las Vegas, reporting for this blog on a number of sessions all having to do with managing your IT performance. (I’ll also be hanging out in booth #100 if you want to stop by and say hello.)

One session on my calendar is “How IT Operations can Impact Business Direction” (BB2681). Helping IT leaders demonstrate the value that their organizations bring to the business is something we try to do both on this blog and in the Discover Performance newsletter.

The story behind this session is pretty interesting. One of India’s leading outsourcing vendors, iGate Patni, partnered with HP to deploy monitoring and automation solutions with the goal of improving efficiency while controlling operational costs. Companies worldwide tap iGate Patni to manage their data centers, so iGate needed to deliver SLAs without increasing headcount.

Organizations that have to manage far-flung hybrid data centers can learn from iGate’s experience how to fine tune operations to enable business growth. It’s an opportunity to get real-world insight into the decision making and thinking that can lead to competitive advantage. More than that, it’s an opportunity to see IT Ops shine. The session is scheduled for June 5 at 4 p.m. I hope you’ll check it out.
