I just took over as the network manager for a small company and we have an HP 9250C Digital Sender that has an administrative password set, and I can't change any settings or create new users, and I can't get ahold of the guy that I replaced to get the password. I'm looking for a hard reset that will completely wipe everything out and let me start fresh.
Thanks

Cold reset
A cold reset resets the values of permanent storage variables back to factory default. Often this is
necessary for clearing the HP MFP Digital Sending Server IP address.
The following items are cleared during a cold reset:
â Embedded Jetdirect IP address
â SMTP IP address
â LDAP IP address
â Embedded Web server password
â All control-panel configurable items
The following items are NOT cleared during a cold reset:
â Local address book e-mail addresses
â Real-time clock (date and time)
â Page counts and maintenance counts
â Product serial number and formatter number
â Service ID
â Event log
To perform a cold reset
1. Turn off the digital sender.
2. Turn on the digital sender.
3. While the product is performing its memory count, hold down the #6 key. When the three status
LEDs are illuminated, release the #6 key.
4. Press the #3 key four times until the display shows COLD RESET.
5. Press the #6 key once to initiate the cold reset. The product will continue its boot-up sequence.

I have a similar issue, but with an unusable network address. Cold reset done to enable the IP address to be reset, but it does not go to the Factory default settings (We know what to do with the sender fresh from the box). It now starts with only the supplies status button on the screen and no IP address displayed. So cannot talk to it via network or configure from screen.
How do we overcome this?

I am having the same problem with our digital sender in our squadron. I have tried a cold reset and it did not work. Let me know if you have found out how to resolve this

We did fix the issue but did not find out how to do a full reset. The problem we had was that we had changed the location of the sender to a new IP domain and could not talk to it as the manual IP address remained on the old subnet. Admin access from LCD screen had been disabled. We used a laptop to emulate the previous subnet and could then configure the Sender to the new area.

Hi all,
I am note sure, why the Jetdirect network settings are not cleared by a Cold Reset on your device(s). but what you could do is to disable the embedded Jetdirect and install an EIO card (EIO600/610/615) from an older (or another HP printer) and where you know the IP settings. By this you would be able to remotly access the DS9250 and reconfigure the embedded Jetdirect settings.
Here are the steps for disbale the embedded LAN:
To enable or disable the LAN
1. Turn off the digital sender.
2. Turn on the digital sender.
3. Immediately after turning on the device, press and hold the #6 key on the control panel (do not wait
for the memory-count).
4. When all three status LEDs are illuminated, release the #6 key.
5. Press the #3 key to scroll to the ENABLE/DISABLE EMBEDDED LAN selection.
6. Press the #6 key once to initiate the enable or disable routine. The digital sender will continue its
boot-up sequence.
Hope this tip helps.
cheers Mario
