Re: Trying to restore SQL - Received ABORT request from RSM (ERR: Media Agent aborted.)

What version of Data Protector are you using?

The log suggests a mismatch.

Hewlett-Packard Data Protector Backup and Restore Agent for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0/2000

Your target appears to be SQL 2008 (X64).  Was this the source of the backup?

Re: Trying to restore SQL - Received ABORT request from RSM (ERR: Media Agent aborted.)

[ Edited ]

It might be worth asking in a MSSQL forum but AFAIK you can't restore a SQL 2005 database onto  a SQL 2008 installation.

There may be a work round but we've even found that a create table script generated on 2005 fails with syntax errors on 2008.

It might be worth trying the restore in debug mode to see if you get any more information.

Re: Trying to restore SQL - Received ABORT request from RSM (ERR: Media Agent aborted.)

Hi, in addition please check if the database on the new server has an owner (if not restore cannot continue - have seen this several times) and if restore is allowed. Best regards Daniel

Re: Trying to restore SQL - Received ABORT request from RSM (ERR: Media Agent aborted.)

Thanks folks.

I try to restore on other server, with SQL2005, but I got the same fail error.

The version of SQL in New Server is:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.5000.00 (X64)
Dec 10 2010 10:38:40
Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation
Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)

I will ask for my DBA about the owner.

Thank you.
