Re: Problem with data protector 6.0 error [61:2052]

Hi,

there might something wrong on the server, as normally it take no so long time to start the backup. Please restart backup server and Oracle server. If this is no option, you may adjust a global variable and restart DP services on the cell server. Try to increase SmWaitForFirstBackupClientSec=900 in first step.

# SmWaitForFirstBackupClientSec=WaitForInSeconds

# default: 10 minutes
# This timeout is used by the Backup Session Manager.  After the
# backup script on the BAR system  starts, the BSM will wait for
# specified timeout for the first  client  connection.  If there
# are no connections in the specified timeout, BSM will go down.

Best regards

Daniel

Re: Problem with data protector 6.0 error [61:2052]

Hi Afaq,

this error:

"failed to create sequential file, name"

This is coming from Oracle, not Data Protector.

Rman is trying to find archive logs in sequence, fails to find them due to missing files (not sure if they were manually moved, deleeted...etc) causing the backup to fail.

change archivelog all validate  should fix the above issue

or contact DBA he will fix running command,: #CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL;

but first ask DBA about this command.

Regards.

Re: Problem with data protector 6.0 error [61:2052]

Hi Eblyn,

you normally would have right... but not in this case, as the message regarding sequential file is displayed after the error [Major] From: BSM@dmovdp01 "DAILY_BI_PDM_ORADM_ONLINE-DB-1W" Time: 7/20/2012 3:55:19 AM
[61:2052] Bar backup session was started but no client connected
in 600 seconds.
Aborting session!

So check first the omnirc variable, in next step enable rman trace and ask DBA for advise.

Best regards

Daniel

Re: Problem with data protector 6.0 error [61:2052]

Hi .

Thanks for the clarification, I've had a couple of cases with this same problem and believe it or not this problem ,missingg of archive causes communication is lost (but certainly does not seem, at least in my case) This file is not present : = "DB-1W DAILY_BI_PDM_ORADM_ONLINE <ORADM_4156:789104844:1>. Dbf", and the only way to fix it is to crosscheck, RMAN it may be that you are looking to lose communication with DP and that of the communication error.

Anyway I hope afaq solve the problem with our commente.

Re: Problem with data protector 6.0 error [61:2052]

Do you have a single backup specification for Tuesday and Friday backups or just one with a schedule for both days? If you have two, it might be worth comparing both specification files.

Sebastian

Re: Problem with data protector 6.0 error [61:2052]

Daniel, he has only a single backup spec which is really strange. I guess there must be something external to DP causing the failure. Are there any batch jobs running inside or external the database that might cause RMAN to fail?

Sebastian
