NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

Is there anyway for Dataprotector to be able to backup a NFS mount. I know you can do it in DataProtector Express, but its different from Omniview dataprotector 6.0

Re: NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

I am not able to select UNIX filesystem, when I manually add it. Am I able to backup the NFS mount, if it is mounted as a network drive on the DP system?

Re: NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

open the HELP section of the GUI and in the search the index for NFS.

you didn't mention the OS of the client system (where the NFS mount will live). the docs indicate this must be either HP or Solaris.....I've never tried it on anything other than HP.

Re: NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

Saludos Evan, as OldSchool stated this is posible.

But I think that it is better to backup this filesystem in its original client, this way is faster.

As a rule post your DP version and OS version too.

Re: NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

We are currenlty using DataProtector 6.0, on a Windows Storage 2003 server. Extra information about the system is that, we want to backup VMDK files out of a NFS volume straight to tape so it will retain its NFS attributes. The NFS volume is actually a NFS share straight from our NETAPP Filer.

Re: NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

ok...where is the NFS volume mounted at the time of the backup, ie the actual name of the mount-point? and what O/S is it?

Re: NFS backup through Dataprotector 6.0

Currently it is mounted also on the Dataprotector system, we just want to back up the data once a month from filer straight to tape.
