NDMP Customer Advisor c03282611 - Need Assistance

[ Edited ]

We are having intermittent issues restoring files from our NDMP backups.  We have an EMC Celerra, using Data Protector 6.20 on Win2k8 R2 Cell Manager, patched up to the following levels:

DPWIN_00619         Core Component
DPWIN_00610         Cell Manager Component
DPWIN_00620         Disk Agent
DPWIN_00622         NDMP Media Agent
DPWIN_00611         User Interface

The cell manager is acting as the NDMP media agent.  On some restores, we get the following errors:

[Major] From: RMA-NDMP@host.domain.com "QT03n"  Time: 2/20/2013 4:24:08 PM
[90:52]   c208t0l0
Cannot read from device ([2] The system cannot find the file specified. )

[Major] From: RMA-NDMP@host.domain.com "QT03n"  Time: 2/20/2013 4:24:08 PM
[90:53]   c208t0l0
Cannot seek to requested position ([2] The system cannot find the file specified. )

[Critical] From: RSM@host.domain.com ""  Time: 2/20/2013 4:24:08 PM
[61:17112]  Medium header verification failed on drive QT03n.
All objects on this medium will be marked as failed.

In the past when we got this error, I've exported the tape and tried to re-import it, but received errors saying:

"this media already has valid copy in DB"

I have found a Data Protector Customer Advisory that describes exactly this situation.

It also lists the fix as being a patch DPWIN_00571, which is a Media Agent patch.  The media agent patch we have superceded this patch, and so should still contain the "fix" in it.  This patch was applied months ago, prior to the date we are trying to restore from, so I am not understanding why we are still having these problems.  Is there anything we can do to fix this, or do we need to tell our legal team that we will be unable to restore any of our backups?
