Manager of Managers (MoM)

Is there a limit to the number of cell servers in a MoM environment? we have been using MoM to manage 22 backup servers. we are adding additional backup servers, when we add them to the MoM environment, all of the servers show up correctly in the "status frame" on the left, however when we select "Monitor All" the last 8 systems on the list are showing a red, not connected status. Additionally, when you select one of the systems to open the individual monitor window, and error is issued [24] Too many open files. This doesn't appear to be a system problem, we have increased nfile and ninode parms in the kernal. We are running omnibackII 3.10 on an A180C hp-ux 10.2. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Manager of Managers (MoM)

Turns out we were running into a kernal param limit. maxfiles, sets the soft limit for the number of files a process is allowed to have open. We increased the default value from 60 to 200 and our problem went away.

Re: Manager of Managers (MoM)

You also may want to watch some of the GUI and connection timeouts in the /etc/opt/omni/options/global

I have had to bump that up when I was on a slow connection to the remote cell server.
