Install Data protector please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)?

Hi

I have been installing Data protector "Installation server" 2CD. I met below problem. Actually I have inserted the 2nd CD in the dvdrom and Cd to local_insall and run below command. I inserted CD1 met the same issue. I insert CD2 system still said insert CD2. how to install installaton server?

Thanks.

Any answers will be very appreciate!

/dvdrom/LOCAL_INSTALL> ./omnisetup.sh

The omnisetup.sh script didn't finish last time
Installation Server still has to be installed

The omnisetup.sh script can now continue the unfinished installation
or it can ignore the saved state and start a new one.
If you choose to ignore, the script will erase the saved state
and will process only the command line options
Do you want to continue the unfinished installation? (Y/n)
y
Resuming (using possible CLI options)...

Data Protector version A.06.00 found
Cell Manager detected...

Setup cannot continue, please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)
and run the installation script again, without options, it will continue.

Re: Install Data protector please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)?

Shalom,

The install is looking for software it thinks is on disk two of the OS installation set.

This may be an error in the install set or the software in question may be locked.

Or you may not have the correct installation disk set that is required.

Re: Install Data protector please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)?

Hi SEP

Thanks for your fast replay.

Just now I finished the D/P cell manager 6.0 installation.
Now I wanna install D/P "installation server".
I inserted the cd1 in serer's DVD rom and # mount /dvdrom and according installatin guide run:
cd /dvdrom/LOCAL_INSTALL
./omnisetup.sh -IS

The CD1 said scan D/P... insert CD2 continue

And I umount the /dvdrom (otherwise the dvdrom couldnot open)and inserted the CD2. I mount dvdrom again and

cd /dvdrom/LOCAL_INSTALL
./omnisetup.sh -IS

above error appear.

How to fix it. Urgent.

I'm sorry to break this to you but there might not be a fix.

The install script might be broken.

Like I said above if you have met all of the above criteria then you need to call the response center.

Maybe you missed something.

Maybe the instructions were wrong.

Sorry to give such an answer but I'm out of ideas.

Re: Install Data protector please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)?

As you know, I have called HP Support centre, but right now no data protector engineer there.

But it's a urgent case. So, I post the question on ITRC.

I will give up the 6.0. I will tried to install 5.5. 5.5 installation sever just 1 cd.

Question: D/P 5.5 management system is 6.0's Cell manager right?

Re: Install Data protector please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)?

I had the same issue. I just ran the omnisetup.sh -help . There was an option to specify the source which I assumed was where the depots were located. I mounted it on /cdrom, so depending on where you mounted it, it will be different.

omnisetup.sh -source /cdrom/DP_DEPOT

This allowed the installation to continue. Oh and it was actually CD 1 of 2. You'll probably notice the [CD_02] next to it on the label. Why the differing naming conventions, i don't know.

Anyway, hope that works for you too.

Re: Install Data protector please insert the HP-UX Installation Server CD (CD2)?

CD1 is HP-UX PA-RISC Cell Manager
CD2 is HP-UX PA-RISC Installation Server 1
CD3 is HP-UX PA-RISC Installation Server 2
CD4 is HP-UX IA-64 Cell Manager
and so on through the IA ones and then the Solaris SPARC ones and then the Linux x86_64 ones.

Thanks,
Scott

Also, you could try the -IS1 and -IS2 switches. -IS1 for disk1 and -IS2 for disk2.
