Re: HP DP 7.0 SAP R/3 Oracle integration probleam

Hi,

I don't find this SAP version on support matrix, please give more information.

Also, this errors are  from BRTools, not DP. You need to work with SAP to get your brbackup
to disk working first. Only then, integrate with DP so brbackup sends data to
us rather than to disk.

Re: HP DP 7.0 SAP R/3 Oracle integration probleam

Hi,

either the user used for the configuration has no sufficient rights or the pathes you specified are not correct. From my point of view: the path to the BRtools is not correct, so that the symlink cannot be generated.

Best regards

Daniel

Re: HP DP 7.0 SAP R/3 Oracle integration probleam

# omnigetmsg 12 8709
[12:8709] The selected SAP Oracle database instance has never been configured.
The selected SAP Oracle database instance has never been configured.
The Data Protector repository with list of SAP Oracle database instances does
not contain the name of selected Oracle database instance (<ORACLE_SID>).

Start the configuration. Check if the configuration was done successful.

What it is saying is that, on the Cell Manager, there is no Configuration file for the Instance 'GEP'

UNIX Cell Manager

   /etc/opt/omni/server/integ/config/SAP

Windows 2003 Cell Manager

   Program Files -> Omniback -> Config -> Server -> INteg -> Sonfig -> SAP

Windows 2008 cell manager

   Program Data  -> Omniback -> Config -> Server -> INteg -> Sonfig -> SAP

There should be a file named [hostname]%GEP      Not including the [   ] marks

If you don't see this file, you need to redo the configuration, and get a RETVAL*0

Cell manager : Windows 2008 R2 x64 Bit with HP DP 7.0 backup software
Clients : HP-UX 11iv3 with SAP R/3 ORACLE

when configuring the SAP R/3 integration, the following Errors are coming:
[12:8710] Cannot copy/link BRtools interface file(s) to the SAP directory.
brbackup to disk is working fine.
the user used for the configuration has sufficient rights and also provided 777 rights on brtools, brarchive & br connects
And path I have specified are correct.still symlink cannot be generated & same problem happening.

Re: HP DP 7.0 SAP R/3 Oracle integration probleam

I checked our lab cases, and found that this problem was identified and fixed with Data Protector 6.11

Either the fix was not carried forward to 7.0, or there is some different issue causing the same error

One possible cause is that there may be a 'backint' process already running.  On your SAP server, run

            ps -ef | grep backint

If you find one, kill it (use 'kill -9' if you need to ) and try your Configuration again

If you don't find one, open a case with the response center, this will need to be evaluated by Engineering. When you open the case, refer to

QCIM2A22481 Cannot copy/link BRtools interface file(s) to the SAP directory

QCIM2A23585 Cannot copy/link BRtools interface file(s) to the SAP directory

which are the 6.11 lab cases that resolved this problem before

I think that this is going to be something new, since both of those cases involved a successfully configured SAP integration, and yours is failing on the Configuration part

Re: HP DP 7.0 SAP R/3 Oracle integration probleam

In my case with the same error code, this is by inconsistent name resolution.

Cell Manager and the client resolve by DNS with fully FQDN name. But in the client there is a bad entry.

But in /etc/hosts file there is an entry with a short name. For this reason when you try get the config we receive *RETVAL*8709 error.

For example:

DNS name is:  host.domain.com

This is installed ok.

Integration execute ok, but when try to check it you receive the error.

Because de client has an entry in /etc/hosts like this:

10.10.10.10     host

this was changed to:

10.10.10.10    host.domain.com     host
