I'm having issue when create backup for exchange 2007 using single mailbox method. During backup wizard, I tried to expand Mailboxes to see the list, DP become unresponding. If I continue without expand list of mailboxes, the wizard complete successfully but upon execution of backup job, it failed.
I checked few doco on the internet (e.g http://forum.msproadmin.net/index.php/HP-Data-Prot
When I run mbx_bar.exe create, it pop up profile screen and return code is *RETVAL* 0, mbx_bar.exe chkconfig also return the same result.
mbx_bar.exe getconfig return with correct domain name, username etc...and return code *RETVAL*0
However, when i run mbx_bar.exe browse, it pop up another windows "Microsoft Exchange Server" with exchange FQDN and mailbox of exchange admin. If I click ok to continue, the command return *RETVAL*8100 Error code: -2147221220
I've tried to run same command with -debug and attached the result.
Please, anyone give me some light on this problem? I've been playing around with it for awhile
By the way, I'm running Windows 2003 R2 x64 SP2, exchange 2007.

not sure if it is related or not but just from reading the debug perhaps worth a try ...
Did you check the registry SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\OmniBac
I know this one only as enviroment variable for sybase integration, did you try creating it setting the value to 1?

Thanks for suggestion.
I've tried regedit with that key but it doesn't help. Debug log still show "[MBX_BrowseMailboxes] MBX_OpenDefaultMsgStore failed" and return error Error code: -2147221220
I'm not using First Storage Group but create multiple different storage group name, could it be because of this?

Another idea but its more wild guessing (MSX is not really my focus ...)
or this one

On exchange server inet.log, I found this error message:
A request 11 (mbx_bar.exe) came from host <name of backup server> which is not a cell manager of this client.
Some people seem to resolved by checking dns + edit hosts file. I check both and confirmed we can resolved server name both directions (backup server and exchange client).
Do you have any recommend?

I've changed reg entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Hewlett-Packard -> OpenView -> OmniBackII -> Site -> CellServer to match name on inet.log. Now that message disappear but still having the same problem.Mbx_bar.exe browse is still returned error code -2147221220

I recreated profile and able to go a bit futher:
[ 20] 2011-07-28 14:21:04 ("/integ/exchange/Mailbox/MBX_common.cpp $Rev: 12573 $ $Date:: 2010-09-01 12:52:28":926) A.06.20 b370
[ 20] [MBX_GetMailboxTable] --> GetMailboxTable method.
[ 20] [MBX_GetMailboxTable] <-- GetMailboxTable.
[ 20] [MBX_GetMailboxTable] <-- GetMailboxTable returned error but we are trying to see what we got in the list of mailboxes.
[ 20] 2011-07-28 14:21:04 ("/integ/exchange/Mailbox/MBX_common.cpp $Rev: 12573 $ $Date:: 2010-09-01 12:52:28":947) A.06.20 b370
[ 20] [MBX_GetMailboxTable] --> SetColumns.
However, mbx_bar.exe terminated unexpectedly after that according to event viewer in windows application log:
Faulting application mbx_bar.exe, version 6.20.370.0, faulting module mbx_bar.exe, version 6.20.370.0, fault address 0x0000a6c1.

while browsing for a hint with your problem I saw a lot of trouble with IP v6 - do you have it enabled/configured?
To be honest my best guess would be to open a call with it, if even after recreating the profile (which could sometimes be required) it still does not work ...
Things to check according the integration guide
- user rights (Windows + MSX)
- profile name ($$$Data Protector)
- logging in with that user, recreating the profile
A nice conclusion in a similar case: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ITRC-Data-Protector-F
there is not much more you or me can do ... so I would go with a call.

The issue could be the MAPI CDO client.
The MAPI CDO kit is installed but the exmapi32.dll file (in the windows->system32 directory) is missing.
- Remove and reinstall CDO kit.
- If exmapi32.dll still not there then remove CDO kit, rename mapi32.dll from windows->system32 and reinstall CDO kit

Thanks for your solution.
The problem is mapi32.dll is corrupted in c:\SysWOW64.
After re-name mapi32.dll and re-install CDO, I can browse mailboxes and backup single mailbox.
Good job Tirtiti, keep it up.

I'm getting the same issue.
May I know where should I install the CDO kit?
My cell server is on a hp-ux box. The version of exchange server is 2007.
