Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

The integration must be configured for the target DB2 instance and then you will be able to restore the logs.

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Hi,

for DB2, we cannot restore the archive log backup taken from the PROD (online integration is configured) to DR (online integration is not configured) to do a roll forward . right ?

Once we have the online integration configured for DR site as well, we can restore the same online backup taken from PROD site .. right ???

Please acknowledge the below procedure to do so is correct :

 1. Backup the DB2 (online backup) along with Archive log to a medium at PROD site.

2. Bring the medium to DR and load it in the DR site library.

3. Import the medium.

4. From the session, do a restore (online backup taken at PROD site).

Please advise....

Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Yes, the DB2 online database/log backups cannot be restored into your DR server until the integration is configured. Once you have the integration in place, you will be able to restore your PROD backup to the DR server.

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Hi,

I am getting the following error when i do a restore of online backup of DB2 taken at PRODUCTION site.

[Major] From : OB2BAR_DB2BAR@hrprd "db2pm1" TIme:5/31/2012 4:33:56 PM

  DB2 returned error:

SQL2542N No Match for a database image file was found based on the source database alias "PM1" and timestamp "20120531121709"  provided.

What I have done :-

 1. Taken the online backup and archival log backup to a tape at PRODUCTION tape of DB2

2. Brought the tape onto DR site and right click on the medium and "import"

3. Once the import has successfully finished, restored the DB2 from "Restoreobject" - (could see the server name from PRODUCTION site to restore.)

4. Once the restore is triggered, met the above mentioned error.

Please help if anybody has clue on this .

Thanks a million for the help in advance . Really stuck and greatly appreciate the help friends.

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Please check whether the target server is able to resolve the source DB2 server name or create an entry in /etc/hosts file and then try again.

This issue is known with DP v6.2x and you need to log a support case for further assistance.

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Hi Prakasam,

I have recieved the hotfix for this from DP backend and applied. Now there is no error showing in the session report. But the DB is not getting restored.

When I trigger the restore, it starts as normal, then with in 1 minute, pop up comes saying the restore is successful. In fact, restore was not done at all.

Below is the session report for the reference.

Session report :-

Normal] From: RSM@tyignitesvr "" Time: 6/6/2012 4:54:16 PM
Restore session 2012/06/06-24 started.

[Normal] From: RSM@tyignitesvr "" Time: 6/6/2012 4:54:17 PM
OB2BAR application on "hrprd" disconnected.

Any body has encountered this issue before. Thanks a million in advance friends.....

Really stuck here. !!!! :(

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Hi all,

Its know issue with DB2 (with DP 6.2) when restoring the database online backup taken from one machine and try to restore to another one.

There is a hotfix developed by the DP lab team and you can get it by logging a case with backend.

Please apply this binary (db2bar) at /opt/omni/lbin @ DB2 server (DO client) and restart the DP Service and try the restore.

Re: DB2 Archive log restore.

Hi Shabab,

We are trying to restore the SAP online database backup taken from one Server and to restore it on to another Server. Immediately after triggering the restore step using DP, we are getting stucked with below error message (FYI we are using DB2 9.5 with DP 6.2).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Major] From: OB2BAR_DB2BAR@vblhapp1 "db2vbp"  Time: 20-12-2013 11:21:31 AM
      DB2 returned error:
SQL2542N  No match for a database image file was found based on the source
database alias "VBP" and timestamp "20131219190253" provided.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you said, there's need to apply hotfix related to "db2bar" to overcome the above error while restoring.  since I'm new to DP maintenance, I'm very much confused in resolving the issue. Can you please list the name of hotfixes that are to be applied and how ....?

Please help me in resolving the issue with DB2 restoration...

Kundan
