Change the protection on backed up tapes

Hello,

I have done some backups and the retention is set for 1 year, now due to client requirement I have to change the retention for 7 years on the backed up tapes.

Can someone please let me know if it is possible and if so how it can be done.

Many Thanks

Re: Change the protection on backed up tapes

Right click the session and select Change Data Protection.  I think you will also have to Change Catalog Protection.

If you have a lot of them you might want to consider a commandline option.

omnidb -session sessionID -change_protection years 7

omnidb -session sessionID -change_catprotection years 7

Re: Change the protection on backed up tapes

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the info. But This backups are old and I don't know the session numbers. I do know the "poolname" and the tape number.

Can I change the retention if I know the tape number ?

Please do let me know.

Thanks

Re: Change the protection on backed up tapes

Hello

For to do that you need to know the session ID, therefore if you know the tapes number then use this command for to get a list of session included in those tapes

omnimm -catalog ML8771L4

Once you have teh session ID then you will be able to change catalog and data protection.
