Re: "Remove and check color cartridge"

Just as a thought try this...

Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the access door.
Turn off the power to the all-in-one product.
Wait for the self-test to complete and for the unit to completely turn off.
Turn on the power to the all-in-one product.
Wait for the unit to display Insert cartridges or similar message.

Verify that the protective tape (usually containing a blue tab) is removed from the nozzles of the cartridges, and reinsert the cartridges.

Good luck!

Re: "Remove and check color cartridge"

In addition to the other suggestions you might try cleaning the cartrdige contacts as shown at: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpa02060

Re: "Remove and check color cartridge"

It is also possible that the black cartrdige is causing the message. There are some shared control lines between the black an color cartrdige and certain failures in the black cartrdige can appear to the printer as a color cartridge problem.

Try replaceing the balck cartrdige if you have a spare, otherwise it may be best to try finding another printer that takes the #45 black cartrdige to test our cartrdige.

Re: "Remove and check color cartridge"

I don't have any others cartridges or printers
to try it.

Both cartridges are very new from the shop.

Re: "Remove and check color cartridge"

For an HP OfficeJet 5510 all-in-one printer which exhibited this symptom, replacing the black cartridge resolved the problem. (We had already replaced the color cartridge).

We spent about 3 weeks messing with the printer and dealing with the terrible (I'm sorry to say) telephone support from HP. Poor product quality, combined with bad phone support -- I expect more from HP.

Re: "Remove and check color cartridge"

Glad I found this thread.  My 7210 All-In-One had this same problem and changing the black cartridge fixed it.
