Brian,
Since the iPad does not have USB ports you will not be able to "direct connect" to most printers. What apple offers instead is a system called AirPrint. The printer model must be compatible with AirPrint and installed on a wireless network in order for the iPad to send print documents to it. Unfortunetly, the OfficeJet 100 is not listed as a printer that supports AirPrint. See the bottom of article for a list of AirPrint-enabled printers:
http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html
There are other printing apps available through iTunes that may be worth looking into. These apps claim that they are compatible with any wireless network printer and do not require additional software or drivers. Here is an article that attempts to rate such 3rd party apps:

It looks like you can also sync your iPad back to a mac and print through that computer instead. If you choose to go down that route than your printer will more than likely be supported without any further problems.
