HP Deskjet 882c / Windows XP Pro

I'm having troubles installing a driver for an HP 882C Deskjet on Windows XP.

I have tried parallel (all possible mode setups for port in Bios as well) and USB, and in all cases I get the same error.

It finds the printer, but when the driver installation tries to complete, it tells me the environment specified is invalid. If I try to continue and install without using PnP, the port selection pull-down box is empty.

Now, you could argue that the PC isn't seeing the printer since the dropdown is empty, but XP sees the printer PnP parallel or USB.

Ideas?

Re: HP Deskjet 882c / Windows XP Pro

Hi,
Try this,
Remove the printer if installed,
if you have HP setup Cd then put it on your cd drive to launch the setup wizard;
Wait intill the setup wizard prompt you to connect the printer and then you can connect it;
The Pnp softaware will starts don't continue with it but cancel and continue with HP software.
When the set up is terminated, you can restart your computer
Hope tkis helps
Besst regards
