I've just purchased HP30b but the package only comes with a very simple quick start guide.
I've read a review that there should be an online pdf owner manual, but I'm unable to locate it (though I managed to get the 40 learning modules).
Can someone give me a link on how to get this, or does an user guide actually exist??
Thanks in advance.

Yes it does. It has proven to be very difficult to get onto the website though. I have attached it on this post. Let me know if you need any other languages besides english.

Thanks a lot indeed.
Btw, are there any pdf files for the learning modules? Whilst I have located these from websites, they are on webpages good for printing, but need a lot of copy and paste work for saving in soft copies.
Again, thanks for user guide as I am not familiar in dealing menus/sub-menus/2-line display of HP calculator. My last HP-32S was bought more than 20 years ago (and still functions properly!!!).

The 30b menu system is nice in that if you are trying to do something that is unfamiliar, it guides you through by prompting for values. This makes it easy to use as you really just need to learn how to operate the menus. It does slow down access to things which you may find important since it isn't a direct keystroke.
This is what programming on it is best for in my opinion. You can assign functions that are important to *you* on specific keys and have direct access.

@TW
Thanks for advice.
Btw, the link quoted in your message doesn't work for me. It returns some sort of 'file not found' message. [I am using a non-English version of Windows.] Any hint?

@MACH
Thanks for the links, though I've been there before. Will definitely take a look at the programming materials. I did try to do some programming but unfortunately not too successful, perhaps due to my loooong time user of HP32S and the procedure here is a bit different. Time to learn some new skills:smileyhappy:

Hi!, ECJC:
See, the best reference for HP30B from Richard J. Nelson, with 40 learning modules (in point 5), what you can consult, in the HP site.
http://www.hpcc.org/calculators/HP30b_Fact_Sheet_V
Too, in the next site, the difference between HP20B and HP30B.

Looks like the forum system mangled the link.
Any browser should open FTP links. Interenet explorer sometimes fails though. If you try it again with the link below and it doesn't work, try it with something like Chrome or Firefox and just paste in the link below. Alternatively, you can use an FTP program like Filezilla.

Hold ON-PMT together and then release. You will see the test menu. Go down until you see the date code.

In case you're subscribed to this thread and not checking new threads on the HP Community forum, you may want to visit this new post regarding access to manuals and the learning modules for the HP 30b.

Tim, your link seemed to require a password for ftp.
BUT, there's a direct and easy way:
The manual, startup-guide and the HowTo's are all easily accessed at the HP customer care hp30b website via the links at
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&d
The manuals download as pdfs but the How To guides are web-pages. I dimly remember downloading one zip file that contained them, but the link appears to have been removed.

Hello,
The user's guide came up just before the new year. That is a permanent home so hopefully it won't ever disappear again.
