Today I am pleased to formally announce the availability of HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping Advanced (DDMA) Content Pack 10. This content pack ten introduces a myriad of new discovery capabilities – including discovery for major private and public cloud service providers, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and vCloud. Cloud and virtualization discovery allow DDMA to reach beyond the physical world and into the world of private and public cloud services, and virtualized environments. In addition, these new capabilities can address and escalate customers cloud transformation and associated planning activities.
HP DDMA is a key component of the HP IT Performance Suite, which plays a critical role in an Instant-On Enterprise. In a world of continuous connectivity, the Instant-On Enterprise embeds technology in everything it does to serve customers, employees, partners and citizens with whatever they need, instantly. HP DDMA software provides visibility into IT operations by automatically and continuously mapping IT applications and infrastructure elements.
One of the benefits of cloud computing is the ability to leverage a new business model and turn capital infrastructure expenses into variable costs. Businesses no longer need to plan and procure servers and other IT resources weeks or months in advance.
With the new discovery capabilities available via Content Pack 10, clients can discover Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) and Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) Volumes and Snapshots. This helps businesses take advantage of Amazon’s expertise and economies of scale to access resources when their business needs them, delivering results faster and at a lower cost.
In addition, with vCloud discovery, Content Pack 10 enables DDMA the discovery of vCloud infrastructure including entities such as organizations, virtual data centers, vApps, vApp templates, catalogs, media, and vApp networks.
Building on the HP IT Peformance Suite VP of Operations Edition…
HP DDMA is core to the HP IT Performance Suite and availability of this content pack also builds on the recently announced VP of Operations edition of the HP IT Performance Suite at HP Discover in Vienna Austria. Customers find value in using HP DDMA as this offering increases productivity by replacing what once was a manual effort with automated discovery.
Beyond Cloud, Content Pack Ten Delivers…
In addition to the new cloud capabilities, Content Pack 10 further enhances mainframe discovery by including iSeries discovery by Eview along with enhancements to the Eview/390z Mainframe discovery Package. This is important because there are a large number of enterprises running critical enterprise applications on the iSeries and 390z Mainframe and companies need visibility into these environments to manage them effectively.
Discovery capabilities have also been enabled for HP ServiceGuard, Glassfish open source server and VMWare Datastore. This is important because clients continue to deploy the most current technologies and HP has responded by enabling enterprises to manage new leading edge technologies.
Integration has also been enhanced to include CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS), Aperture VISTA, NNMi, Application Signature and Service-Now. Functionality has also been added to the integration of Troux. Lastly, Content Pack 10 provides new features such as support for SAP JCo3, Oracle VM Server for SPARC, UCMDB to XML export and a BMC Atrium pull adapter. This is important because clients want to leverage trusted data sources and HP’s Configuration Management System (CMS) allows them to integrate & federate with success.
HP is also committed to providing assistance in getting the most from your DDMA solution. In Content Pack 10, we have included a new Getting Started Guide (GSG). GSG is a bundle of DDMA content, tutorials, documentation, and other artifacts. The intended user is an HP Universal Configuration Management Database (UCMDB) or HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping user who needs to quickly develop new DDMA content.
