HP BSM goes mobile: 4 new BSM mini-apps deliver essential monitoring information

In so many ways today, we all suffer from T.M.I. syndrome — Too Much Information syndrome. This is especially true of IT performance monitoring, and at HP, we want to help you get only the data you need, wherever you may be.

That’s why we’re excited that we announced three new mobile applications at HP Discover in Las Vegas this morning:

  • Service Health (Dashboard)
  • Business Process Monitor (BPM)
  • Real User Monitor (RUM)
  • Service Level Management (SLM)

These mobile mini-apps are powered by the HP Anywhere Mobile platform, which is free for HP Software customers.

To enable these mini apps, you need to install HP Anywhere locally on your site. You can find more information here.

After you have HP Anywhere running, download the mini apps, review the BSM Mini-Apps for HP Anywhere 10 Getting Started Guide and install them on the HPA server.

Here are quick overviews of what each new BSM mini-app offers.

Service Health

The Service Health mini-app displays a watch list of the health status for your most important applications. You can drill down to view an application's hierarchy and view a CI's health indicators that are potential causes of the health status and the health indicators of its child that do not have an OK status.

The mini app is available both for tablets and smartphones. (Check the download guidelines to make sure your device is supported.)

Business Process Monitor

BSM Business Process Monitor (BPM) mini-app allows you to view proactive monitoring of business services or applications and to isolate problems and review application status over time. The application provides a high-level health overview of BPM transactions from different BPM locations and an isolation flow to quickly identify problems and pinpoint issues. You can also invoke a BPM transaction from an iPad to get a real-time status.

The mini app is currently only available for the tablet.

availability, and volume of your applications.

Service Level Management

The Service Level Manager (SLM) mini-app displays a status overview of the SLAs you select. A gauge for each SLA provides a pictorial representation of the status for the selected tracking period. You can drill down to view an SLA's transactions and the status of each of the SLA's transactions for the selected tracking period. View the attached document to see if it is available for your device.
