Vectra Vei8 upgrade memory

I have two dimm on the computer. In slot #1: SDRAM 128Mb PC133 and in the slot #2: SDRAM 512 Mb PC133. The problem is that the BIOS and, of course, the operational system only detects two dimm of 128 Mb. With the program CPU-Z detects the dimm of 512 Mb.

Re: Vectra Vei8 upgrade memory

This machine will only take 2 ea 256 MB or smaller in each slot PC100 or PC133 that will run at the PC100 rate. See page 16-4 of this doc. http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpv06633/lpv06633.pdf It states ECC memory at the 256 MB level but I think it is incorrect. Here is the www.crucial.com page for your machine. http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Vectra%20VEi%20650MHz%20processor

Re: Vectra Vei8 upgrade memory

You can use ECC memory, but the feature is disabled and not functional.

Ealry HP Vectra series have been tested with ECC memory and they worked without supporting the ECC feature.
