Vectra VL400 - System Fan error 0051

[ Edited ]

1. Can someone tell me how to turn this off?
2. All fans are connected, everything is BLOWING!!
3. What are the default dip switch settings on the motherboard - yes I played with them and think that's why I'm now getting an error about the darn system fan not working.
4. Bios: 01.06us

Someone please help me... It's a PIII VL400 1000mhz system.

Thanks!

Jeff

Re: Vectra VL400 - System Fan error 0051

Hi Jeff,

On the motherboard there may be sockets for both power and processor fans, is it possible they're mixed up?

let me know,

Cheers,

Gary

Re: Vectra VL400 - System Fan error 0051

Hey I just had the very same problem...I connected the ISA extension board and the problem went away. Don't ask me what this has to do with the fans...but it was also an option of the 51 error code...

Re: Vectra VL400 - System Fan error 0051

Hi,Jeff, well i can really help u out in this as i also had several PCs of this model having the same chipset and specs u mentioned.

At last i found the Solution for the Fan Error in the bios. Here is the solution by which u will definately succed.

As u know there are three fan connectors sockets on this mother board. So all u need is to put a jumper on one of the socket of precessor fan.it is surprising but it really works.
where to put the jumper so that it will not show u the
fan error.in brief i tell you that the jumper should be put just near the power supply connector.Leaving the first pin from power supply connector side u need to put the jumper in 2nd and 3rd pins.

Then now u switch on the PC it will stop showing u the Error messege.

Best Of luck and please mail me also if u get this thing done or if u need the photographs sample to see the complete details where to put jumper mail me.Then i can send it by mail.

I just got it to work if this help
Bubba Mcbubba wrote:

The fan connector that is being talked about it the one sitting behind the ATX power connector on the motherboard.. It's labeled "Power Fan" (The label is between the floppy and 1st IDE connector) Place a jumper on pins 2 and 3.. ex:

| |
pins | |
(32)1 | | <--(ATX Powersupply Connection)
| |
| |

It works.....

Re: Vectra VL400 - System Fan error 0051

hello jeff,

if you still get the error message then try to reset the settings from your board

1. put the jumper on pin 2 and 3 from power supply fan connector
2. set switch 1, 2 and 3 to ON (left bottom corner on the board)
3. power on
4. power off
5. set the switch 1, 2, 3 back to OFF
5. power on, this time you see a configuration table without errors

good luck!

The jumper thing works, and to help those who don't know this is what the connector looks like and the pins you need to jumper:

0 Pin #3 <--- [][][][]
