VL400 upgrade

[ Edited ]

I currently have a VL400 with a 450MHz PIII. Anyone knows if I can upgrade the CPU to a faster speed PIII? Should I just buy a newer PC?

thanks

Re: VL400 upgrade

Jimmy,

Probably you can upgrade to a 1Ghz PIII but could you give me the product number. I will verify it for you.

Re: VL400 upgrade

Hi Dries,

The model number for my VL400 is D7952T. I like to check to see if I can upgrade the CPU from the current 450MHz PIII to a faster CPU. Please let me know where I can get the upgrade kit.

Thanks

Re: VL400 upgrade

The fastest processor used in vli8 PIII is 550 MHz. (fe in D8157T). Your type of processor Intel Pentium III processor module - 450MHz (Katmai, 100MHz front side bus, 512k L2 cache, Slot 1). You would need a processor with the same specifications. (100MHz - slot1).
For original HP parts visit http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main

Good luck,

Re: VL400 upgrade

Hi Dries,

Why couldn't I use the Coppermine CPU which haa a much faster MHz speed? The specs seems to be the same. Both have 100MHz front side bus. But the Coppermine has only 256k L2 cache.

thanks
