Second DVD drive HPE-170t

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a second DVD drive for the HP HPE-170t. Can anyone confirm that I can put any SATA DVD drive in there. I'm just converned that it is a custom form factor and needs a special DVD drive.

Thanks

Re: Second DVD drive HPE-170t

The HPE-170t looks like a standard
tower system. The Upgrading and Servicing
Guide is here:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02067973.pdf

and there is definitely one standard
3.5" drive bay slot free in the system.
If you check the original configuration
options:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01976261&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...

a second DVD drive is an option.

One thing to be careful of is
that it looks like it only has
4 SATA ports. 1 hard drive, 1 primary DVD,
1 portable media drive are in the standard
config. One SATA port
should be available for your second DVD.
